About Phos Engineering

Professor William O’Neill, founder of Phos Engineering, is Professor of Laser Engineering in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge and an internationally recognised expert in laser materials processing, precision engineering, and advanced manufacturing.

A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP), Fellow of the Laser Institute of America (FLIA), and Engineering Fellow of Downing College, he has more than thirty years of experience at the forefront of research, education, industrial collaboration, and technology translation.

His work has turned scientific innovation into practical technologies for the aerospace, automotive, energy, and medical sectors.

Through Phos Engineering, he offers independent consultancy and expert advice on advanced manufacturing, technology assessment, and intellectual property disputes, combining technical rigour with clear, authoritative communication.
